Thematis, a tea house in Neudorf
Today, we are talking about a cocoon nestled close to Place de l’Etoile: Thematis, a tea house located in Neudorf, where you can go to drink delicious teas on the spot or to take away in a bag or a box (loose tea leaves). But before you talk about the place itself, we would like to say a few words about the owner, Sükrân, a woman passionate about tea’s universe.
The love of tea, a family heritage
Sükrân comes from a family of traders, 3rd generation and still in the tea business. Her grandparents produced and passed on this love of tea to her. The creation of this shop is therefore the fruit of a family heritage. Before opening Thematis in 2014, Sükrân completed a Master’s degree in Law and worked as a lawyer in the European Parliament. However, she had always planned to open her tea house one day. A dream she ended up fulfilling, and we’re glad she did, because we love this place.
A very sharp selection of teass
The selection of chosen teas requires a lot of time. It is mostly a “love at first side” process, but also a touch of imagination. Exclusive blends are made for tea. The store has a collection of roughly 200 different varieties, as well as special “pop-up” teas. Local commerce and organic products are the key motto of the place. Tea names are created by Sükrân and her family, and some teas even have customers’ names! This is THE proof of a real complicity and conviviality between her and her clients. The shop has also a lovely terrace for sunny days and an indoor cocooning area to enjoy drinking tea with friends.
