You surely heard of East Canteen. A small hyper-trendy canteen that transports you to Asia by its street-food cuisine, without even taking the plane! Of course we went and now we’re spelling the beans!

One place, 4 cultures

You have never traveled to Asia and you want to discover it in one place, with dishes from Thailand, China, Japan and Vietnam? This paradise does exists and it is called East Canteen. As soon as you open the door of this small canteen, you are directly transported in Asia by the very neat decoration: lanterns, bamboos, beautiful plants and luminous paintings, we are in love! Happiness doesn’t stop here, the whole universe of East Canteen is awesome. Organic teas from Gaia Gardens, Japanese sake and whiskeys, Pan-Asian beers, and even Pachamate, the drinks menu is to die for! But that’s not all!

East Canteen, a mouthwatering and endless menu

Once you had the aperitif, make room for the main course. Choosing what to eat was super complicated because everything looked so good. Gyozas, miso soup, noodles, Thai soup with coconut milk, shrimp, dak gangjeong, Thai pad, the list is endless. We’ve ordered a Thai Pad with chicken and sautéed shrimp with lemon and coconut milk served on a bed of fragrant rice. The verdict was without appeal, it was excellent and we want so badly to return as soon as possible!

A real street-food kitchen

We haven’t been to Asia yet, but we know very well that the dishes are adapted to the taste of Europeans. However, we want to say that at East Canteen, the cuisine really comes close to what you can find in Asian street-food. We strongly recommend going there when the weather is fine, because the terrace is really awesome. On the other hand you’ll have to hurry up because it is very quickly occupied. No doubt a success! 😉

Editors’ tip

If you want to test the place but you are lazy to get rid of your flannel blanket, we recommend you ordering via Deliveroo which has been available since late November! A great tip, for a journey of the senses from your living room! Located in Place de l’Orphelin, the East Canteen is a trendy place that deserves it. But this restaurant also has a great team of professionals, always smiling and welcoming. We will gladly eat there again especially as the prices are very decent for the quality and variety.
