Sometimes you just have the opportunity to meet people that touch you more than others. This was the case with meeting with Catherine Michalak from Les bonbons de Mamie. And, without delay, we want to present this wonderful woman who followed her love for candy dream with a vintage touch!

An entrepreneurial and exciting adventure

After 30 years in the eyewear industry, tired of her job, Catherine Michalak wanted to do something else. A food lover, she always had a sweet tooth for candy! Not after visiting a small vintage candy shop in Lyon that she decided the change. All those colors, but especially the memories coming back with every bite, made her want to recreate her own ‘’vintage universe’’ in Strasbourg.

A trip to a vintage childhood

Les bonbons de Mamie is a small family-owned company offering vintage sweets, but also syrups and jams with original flavors. The goal of this beautiful company is to make (re)discover the flavors of forgotten times through Catherine’s childhood candy: violets, berlingots, roudoudous, malakoffs …She offers on command products, in nice packaging or in packed baskets. You can also rent a candy bar for various events such as birthdays, baptisms or weddings.

Local and national products

Les bonbons de Mamie tries to supply as much locally as possible. A large amount of the candy is made near Colmar and the syrups and jams are handmade in Alsace. The rest of the products are bear the label “Made in France”, since they are made in the south of France.

Sales points of Les bonbons de Mamie

Vintage candy, syrups and jam are sold all year round on various events. Catherine also participates in popup shops several times a year. It is also possible to order directly by message or email. Catherine Michalak herself travels to Strasbourg to deliver you, or she can send the order with the Post office.

An popup boutique in Rivétoile

After the So’British shop from December 2017, you can find Les bonbons de Mamie in a new popup store in Rivetoile next to others producers. The theme of the place is still a secret for the moment, but we are sure you’ll like it! Finally you can find Mamie on March 3, 4 in Mulhouse for the Vintage Market, April 28, 29 at the vintage show in Nancy and of course Elsass Rock & Jive Festival May 8 to 13. Les bonbons de Mamie will also be at the Neudorf en fête!
